Biddenden Vineyards is Kents oldest commercial vineyard having been established by the Barnes family in 1969. Original plantings of 1/3 acre have now grown to 22 acres, producing White, Red, Rosé and Sparkling English Wines. All of the wines are produced solely from grapes which are estate grown, as well as being pressed and bottled on site.
The variety for which the vineyard is best known is its Ortega, which makes up about half of the plantings. Biddenden Ortega is a previous winner of English wine of the year, Most outstanding white wine, and Best unchaptalised white wine at the English & Welsh wine of the year competition.
The vineyard is open to visitors throughout the year and admission and tastings are free of charge.
