Brightwell Vineyard
Brightwell Vineyard is 14 acres and 6 varieties of vine planted between 1988 and 1990 and is been owned by winemakers Bob and Carol Nielsen. It sits alongside the River Thames near the picturesque town of Wallingford in Oxfordshire and has a terroir of flinty chalk greensand and gravel. Due to its sheltered location, surrounded by the Chilterns, is one of the warmest and driest areas of the UK.
The vineyard is open for sales every weekend throughout the year with tours and wine tastings, by appointment, from May to end September. Guests can walk through the vines, explore lakeside walks, and picnic next to the River Thames. The vineyard currently produces six wines and is consistently winning awards in the international competitions.
